New gun control legislation, watch out!

A new bill has been introduced and referred to committee that will increase gun control. HR 45, also known as Blair Holt’s Firearm Licensing and Record of Sale Act of 2009 is very bad for those who enjoy freedom, the constitution, and guns.

According to http://thomas.loc.gov/,

Blair Holt’s Firearm Licensing and Record of Sale Act of 2009 – Amends the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act to prohibit a person from possessing a firearm unless that person has been issued a firearm license under this Act or a state system certified under this Act and such license has not been invalidated or revoked. Prescribes license application, issuance, and renewal requirements.

You might want to follow the status of this on govtrack.

An article on Infowars says it may be more troubling than the average gun bill.

What makes H.R. 45 troubling is its sponsor and its timing.

Its sponsor is Congressman Bobby Rush –- a scion of the same super-corrupt Chicago political machine that produced disgraced Governor Rod Blagojevich and President Barack Obama.

And as for its timing, it was introduced during the confirmation of Attorney General nominee Eric Holder — the man who tried exploit the Columbine tragedy in order to pass gun licensing as Deputy Attorney General in the Clinton administration.

And make no mistake about it: Licensing is only a way-station to discouraging, arresting, or humiliating gun owners and outlawing guns. Under H.R. 45, for example, the applicant must also make available ALL of his psychiatric records, pass an exam, and pay a fee.

This post via the DailyPaul gives the history of gun control, and a brief summary of the bill:

Basically this would make it illegal to own a firearm – any rifle with a clip or ANY pistol unless:
* It is registered
* You are fingerprinted
* You supply a current Driver’s License
* You supply your Social Security #
* You will submit to a physical & mental evaluation at any time of their choosing
* Each update – change or ownership through private or public sale must be reported and costs $25 – Failure to do so you automatically lose the right to own a firearm and are subject up to a year in jail.

There is a child provision clause on page 16 section 305 stating a child-access provision. Gun must be locked and inaccessible to any child under 18. The Government would have the right to come and “inspect” that you are storing your gun safely away from accessibility to children and the fine is punishable for up to 5 yrs. in prison.

As one blogger points out, “Once the government alienates and disenfranchises enough hard working, tax paying Americans these elected officials – do not want us armed – simple as that.”

This bill, pure and simple, is bad for America. So contact your representative and tell them you don’t support it.

Lastly, here is a quote:

This year will go down in history. For the first time, a civilized nation has full gun registration. Our streets will be safer, our police more efficient, and the world will follow our lead into the future!

    Where’s my freedom to develop nuclear weapons in my garden? I tell you where! That Socialist Obama (which sounds a bit like Abomber, coincidence?) took it away!!!

    This is gun legislation, not nuclear weapon legislation.
